There are signs all over car parking lots that read:
"Protect Your Valuables"
They remind us to keep important items safe from theft.
But this analogy is useful when it comes to protecting our body image also.
We must protect our bodies from body satisfaction theft the same way.
Two body-protection strategies to consider are:
- Limiting your exposure to thin-ideal media images (images of thin bodies suggested as being an ideal body)
- Steering clear of negative body talk (e.g. "I feel fat")
But unlike car parking lots, there are no signs, instead we must give ourselves these reminders.
