Self-Care is like clothes, everyone needs them to stay warm and protect their body from the aliments. But everyone's preference for clothing is different. Self-care practice is crucial for wellbeing but will likely differ for everyone.

Something that doesn't differ, though are the kinds of self-care your body needs. Let's look at them now.

1. Physical Self-Care

Physical self-care involves caring for your physical body. For example, getting enough sleep, brushing your teeth, wearing sunscreen, comfortable clothes, staying hydrated, or getting enough nutrition.

Physical self-care is the basic stuff that keeps your body feeling well. But when stress or emotional situations are present, for instance, physical self-care can get deprioritized. So a quick check-in and dedicating time to it, are important.

2. Mental Self-Care

Mental self-care entails doing things that support mental health. This will be unique for everyone. For example, making time for activities to reduce stress, taking medication, seeing a therapist, getting outdoors to clear your head, or schedule social time with friends.

Mental self-care keeps you feeling balanced. You may notice when your mental self-care needs attention when feeling more anxious, or stressed for example. Trying to listen and tend to mental self-care because it's just as important as physical self-care.

3. Emotional Self Care

Finally, emotional self-care is about caring for your emotional needs. This begins by learning how to tune into your emotions to understand them more.

Emotional self-care might involve setting better boundaries, learning to say 'no,' practicing self-reflection through journalling, forgiving yourself, forgiving others. Practicing emotional self-care can take discipline, but it's worth it when you include it as a core part of your self-care practice.
